Placing virtual desktops into the right OU

The default location for VM placement in VMware View is CN=Computers

If you try to specify an invalid location you get the error message: "View Composer error: Invalid value for parameter policy.AdConfigId passed to SVI function"

The following steps will guide you to getting this right:

Per default VMware View will put desktops inside the "Computers" container. In this example we want to put it into the Location / Computers / Virtual Desktops OU. "Location" is the scrambled OU in the picture below:

First we need to specify a QuickPrep domain in the Configuration / Servers / Virtual Center Server configuration:

 

And now we can define the right OU in Desktop and Pools. In the QuickPrep Settings we define the OU:

 Notice that we do not specify the domain, the order is backwards from what you might be used to and a space after each comma is required.
